Guiding Your Teen Through Adolescence: Support Services in Kelowna, BC

We all want teenagers to thrive. Adolescent years can bring a unique set of challenges—from navigating new emotions and peer pressure to academic stress and discovering their identity. As a former teacher and a former teenager, I get it! It’s a lot for them to handle, and sometimes, they need a little extra support to navigate these complex years. The good news is, Kelowna offers a fantastic range of services specifically designed to help your teen—and your family—through this journey.

If you're feeling unsure where to turn, or if your teen is struggling, here's a guide to some of the incredible resources available in Kelowna. Remember, seeking support for your child is a proactive step that can make a significant difference.

Mental Health and Well-being

Foundry Kelowna Foundry Kelowna is a remarkable "one-stop shop" for youth wellness, offering free and low-cost services for young people aged 12-24 and their families. Their comprehensive support includes mental health and substance use services, single-session counselling, brief therapy, and social support. They even have a mobile unit, Foundry Wellness on Wheels, which extends these vital services to West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation, and Lake Country. Counselling Services for Teens Many private and non-profit organizations in Kelowna specialize in teen counselling. These services provide a safe, confidential space for your child to discuss their concerns, whether it's anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, or self-esteem. Look for services that offer a "neurodiversity-affirming" approach if that is relevant to your teen's needs.

Kids Help Phone For immediate, confidential support, Kids Help Phone is a national resource available 24/7. Your teen can call or text them to talk to someone about anything they're going through. This can be a great first step if they're hesitant to speak with you or a local service directly. Call: 1-800-668-6868 Text: CONNECT to 686868
